Sleep Overs and Thanksgiving Dinner...

How could the weekend end any better than that.  We really had a fun-filled weekend, and I'm sad that its all over now.  Yesterday we met up with Anna and Lucy for dinner and the Pippi Longstocking play.  It was fun, for sure, but what was even more fun for both Maeve and I probably was the fact that Lucy invited Maeve for a sleep-over afterwards.  Woot woot from both of us.  Maeve had a GREAT time, as did I (Amy and I went out for drinks, because we could...)

Then, today, we celebrated our 12th annual Canadian Thanksgiving dinner (a week late) with the gang.  A quick change in plan put the party at our house instead of Amy's because Clara was sicky sick sick and we didn't want her virus to be a parting gift for everyone.... So, we just made it work and we were all flexible and cozy with the change of plans.  Dinner was awesome and we enjoyed the mammoth 25 pound turkey, plus the 5 pies available for dessert.  If I can add correctly, we had 15 adults, 9 kids, and 4 in utero.  The costume changes and impromptu marching band, by the littles, kept things lively.  Ha.  We have perfected our potluck Thanksgiving dinner.  And, I'm thankful for good friends....

Oh Hey...

Did you know that I am a total ham and have decided that talking like a tween is my favorite conversation style... actually, it doesn't matter if anyone else is talking to me or not, I still like to to carry on the tween talk, even by myself.  Oh, and my favorite new trick is to wink at you... often accompanied with a click.  I am a gonna be trouble, says my mom...... whatever that means.

Peek-a-Boo...

We're going to go free for a bit... Obviously, I've forgotten how long and painful detangle sessions are for both of us with free hair, but its so darn cute, that I can't help myself...  (Perhaps someone can convince Maeve that we need to get her hair cut just to even out all the different lengths happening here... someone??)

Pumpkin Patch.... Check.

So, we headed out to the pumpkin patch this morning to gather our pumpkins and partake in the fall activities offered at the farm.  It was fun.  Maeve remembered that she ate a cookie there last year, and therefore requested her traditional cookie, the moment we stepped out of the car.  I think it makes a cameo in almost every shot...  Now we're ready for the pumpkin carving party tomorrow.

Weekend Away...

Friends with cabins... what a winning combination.  Thank you so much again, Janey and Jeff, for opening up your beach house for us to stay and relax this weekend.  We are so lucky, because my friends are always so generous.

So, we retreated with CJ, Lance, Pax and Beckett, because they are some of my favorite people, and its easy to relax with them.  The weather was better than predicted and we enjoyed some beach time, lounge time, wine time, and trash magazine time (which is what you do when you are on holidays...)

The beach house...

The kids were anxiously awaiting for the tide to go out... so, we got out there the moment there was a sliver of beach to play with.

Maeve and I proving we did more than lounge... (don't time me, though...)

We all kayaked, because, we could...  It was so pretty and peaceful.

Either I bored Beckett to sleep or I have a soothing voice... ha.

Some cool dusk shots...

Lance was taking the kids on a beach adventure...

 Ummm....

Ha...

"Smile kids!".... okay, maybe don't smile quite as much Maeve!

Good buds...

Family shot...

CJ...

Family Dinner...

Final beach time this morning...

Classic PNW...

"I'm Superman!"

Ummmm...

Love her...

Cute kids...

Lounging...

Full of Personality...

Very rarely is there a dull moment... Maeve is very expressive and very dramatic all rolled into one.  Its a good thing that we don't have a full length mirror hiding out anywhere in our home because I have a hard enough time pulling her away from her bathroom mirror because she's having conversations with herself, trying out new and improved dramatics.  She loves to play dress up (the fancy variety most often wins out), dance, and sing... and ham it up.

Ben Towne Foundation...

This past Friday was the Ben Towne Foundation's annual Benefit Dinner.  It is something that we look forward to each year because it is personal and important to each of us that attended.  Our table consisted primarily of Ben's former nurses.  We knew this sweet boy personally and watched him fight Neuroblastoma as hard as anyone could.  Sheer determination doesn't always give you the outcome you so desperately want... and unfortunately, all of us have witnessed this first hand too many times.  Ben's mom and dad, Carin and Jeff, have created the Ben Towne Foundation in Ben's honor for the sole purpose of accelerating pediatric cancer research... and they are doing amazing things.  I feel so honored to know them and I am inspired by their will to make a difference.  Please help them if you can.
