Lake Cavanaugh!

So the main portion of our holidays were spent at Lake Cavanaugh with our friends.  It is something we had been looking forward to for many months, and we were not disappointed.  We upgraded from camping this year to renting a huge house on the lake -- and who knew that this lake even existed, but it was perfect, warm, and super quiet.  Since we have some creative friends in the bunch, the idea was born to create theme nights for the kids - a mini camp experience, if you will.  It was so fun to see how excited they were.  We had Hawaiian night, Western Night, and Color Burst.  We also had a talent show/dance party night too.  I can't remember what else we did one night.  Anywho, the weather behaved and overall, I'd call it a success.

The kid crew, minus Zane.

Can you guess the theme night?

Hopscotch on the towel...

Popsicles = Summer

I just love how the kids are all buddies

Kaya kayaking.  ha.

The paddleboard was perfect for this lake...

Another theme night....

My friend, Susan, heard that we were doing a Western theme night for the kids and whipped up these awesome horses for each of the cowboys and cowgirls just overnight.  So sweet.

All the kids lined up to perform their talents...

Dance Par-tay!

Its a rough life we live...

The hot tub was a major hit for the kids...

Or you could drink your rootbeer float this way... no problem.

And, yet another theme night.  We were instructed to dress in your favorite color, head to toe.  It was a no brainer what color Maeve would sport all night...

Its always fun to bring out the food dye...

Some people didn't get the memo and had to whip up an outfit on the fly...

Crazy kids... We decided to all go night swimming because it was so nice out... clothes and all.  The kids thought it was hilarious when we all ran for the water dragging them along.

Our last sunset of our trip.  Farewell Lake Cavanaugh.  You were good to us.

Playing Playing Playing...

And, I'm a bit exhausted at the moment.  But, I best put our adventures down before time gets away from me.  We had 3 trips in 9 days, because we can't waste a single second of time off of work and nice weather.  We headed north for a couple of nights...  managed some quick visits with friends and family, and even saw Maeve's new cousin, Alex for the first time.  She's sweet...  Maeve got 'bike-ready' and we hopped on the bike to stay at my brother's for the night.  We haven't biked as much as I'd hoped this summer because we've been gone so much, so we thought we'd bring the bike with us this time.  Hallelujah for dusting off the road bike, but I need to get into some form of shape again...  (I type this as I'm in complete loaf mode... ah, another day.  ha).
