Funny Things She Says...

I almost forgot about this.

Several weeks ago my mom came down to visit and picked up Maeve early from daycare and brought her to visit me at work.  Maeve equates a visit to the hospital with graham crackers and popsicles.  As they were entering into the hospital, Maeve started telling my mom about what food items she wanted to eat.  But, my mom, not being aware of this history, told her that the food in the hospital was only for the kids who were sick.  Without missing a beat, Maeve points to the bug bite on her forehead and says, "But, I am sick -- I have a mosquito bite!"

Visitors...

Maeve is always thrilled when we have friends come to visit... I mean, she is almost, flat out, annoyed when we have don't have someone over for a sleep-over, or dinner at least.  Ann ventured south with Kaya and Zane for a quick visit and it was super fun.  We had a surprise visit from our childhood friend, Tilly, who is normally living in New Zealand with her husband and three girls.  But, in classic style, she called from the road saying that she and a girlfriend, along with six of their kids, were on a road trip from San Fran to Vancouver and had been traveling/camping for the last week and were due to pass through Seattle in a couple of hours... could we play for a few hours?  Ummm... yes, obviously.  How fun!

So, here was the gang traveling north, along with Ann, Kaya, Zane and Maeve.  I swear they were like a clown car with all 8 of them piled in for a nice cozy drive.  I love how game they are for spontaneity and adventure.

Fish...

Sadly, Maeve's Monday through Thursday swim lessons have come to an end.  On her last day I happened to have my camera with me to snap some shots.  It was fun to see Maeve with her school friends...  Maeve is definitely comfortable in the pool and has made a lot of progress this summer already.  Fortunately we still have some decent water days ahead of us....

Another Great Camping Trip...

I feel pretty lucky that we can drive just a short distance from our house and arrive at destinations such as these.  I'm LOVING this summer -- its packed full of fun adventures and camping.  The weather could not be more perfect this year and you can hear the collective sigh of relief from all Pacific Northwesterners that have been waiting for 4 years for our regular summer to return.  Everyone is exhausted because we're all moving at a manic pace -- just making the most of it while we can.

This weekend we headed northeast to Mt Baker/Snoqualmie National Forest and found ourselves camped right beside this river.  I don't think we could have scored a better spot (Thank you Kathleen and Jeff) to park ourselves for the weekend.  We were overlooking the river and had our own personal trail down to the river bed.  The girls had a great time playing and fun was had by all.

And then there's goofy Maeve...

Our campsite...

Roadtrip to a short hike...  I love all the trees.

We were on an 'adventure'... not hike.  Gotta trick the littles.  They thought we were on a fairy hunt the whole time...

And everyone made it to the ice caves...

Beautiful day in a beautiful area of the world...

Henry wasn't so interested...

Super cool...

Sweet boy...

Selfies...

Pretty Woman...

I guess I never take Maeve shopping.  I do love my Amazon Prime and hand-me-downs, so I don't find myself in a clothing store very often.  So, while we were in Portland I thought I'd check out H&M and see if they had a summer dress for me.  For me... that was the goal of the visit.  Me.  Well, I was unsuccessful, but my little sidekick could not have been more excited.  She could be heard audibly gasping at all the clothes and accessories at her disposal... which led me to think of the shopping spree scene in Pretty Woman.  It was pretty funny, but also difficult to try and reel in the mania.  Sorry H&M employees... I'm pretty sure Maeve created 'make-work' projects for you.

Modeling her new outfit... she's especially proud to own her new pink shoes.

Portlandia...

We headed down to Portland for the weekend to visit friends, eat from food trucks, and play in fountains.  It was great.  It was a quick trip, but we're always game for anything...

First order of business... find some food trucks for lunch.  We decided we couldn't pass up the Ethiopian truck.

We played tourist a bit in the city and drug Chelsea and Liam along with us...

And, then it was time to play in the water...

Oh, and Chelsea is about to have a baby... if you couldn't guess.  Ha.  She's super cute.

Fun times!

Maeve decided to be brave and head to the nucleus of the fountain...

I just wish she would learn how to relax on our holidays...

The creative version...

The actual version...

Finny took us to another fountain/water park in the city...

Ice cream... seems to be a staple in our diet this summer...

Playground with Finny...

Good friends and fun times...  Thanks for playing with us Chels and Finn.
