Family Day

Our "Family Day" fell on Thanksgiving this year, which was extra fun and appropriate... It is so hard to believe that 3 years have already past since Maeve and I became a family.  And, exactly 3 years ago today, Stacy and I arrived back home from Ethiopia with Maeve.  It goes without saying that I am beyond blessed and can't imagine life without Maeve...

I remember I couldn't stop looking at Maeve...

Sweet Maeve getting used to the temperature change ;-)

A Perfectly Great Weekend...

Not being a native of the United States, it took me a while to embrace this holiday as my own.  It had always been a bonus holiday, spent with friends who willingly invited me in.  Now that Maeve and I are our own family, I have embraced the Thanksgiving holiday even more so.  Its perfect.

Maeve and I headed over to Chris and Amber's for the afternoon and enjoyed ourselves a fantastic turkey feast.  It was so great.

As good as a dinner shot that I managed.  Nice tongue sticking out, Maeve...

Maeve has jumped onto the "pumpkin pie is the greatest" bandwagon.  Darn!  That means I have to share more of my pie!

Our "Thanksgiving Tree" (Deep apologizes if your name isn't on there... I have no doubt that we are thankful for you too... I let Maeve pick our leaves, and well, if she hadn't seen or talked about you within the last few days, chances are you didn't make the cut)

We have started a little tradition over the last couple of years where Todd, Stacy, Taryn, and Kate come down on Thanksgiving weekend.  Its so fun and just perfect.  We have so many fun things to celebrate within the week-- Thanksgiving, Family Day, and Stacy's birthday.  It was so much fun because we did some Black Friday shopping, ate homemade turkey noodle soup, went to a late movie because we had built-in cousin babysitters, lounged around on Saturday, got our Christmas tree, went out for dinner and another late movie (I love movies and never get to go anymore), celebrated Stacy's birthday, and the girls were able to decorate the Christmas tree together.  It was so great.  Stacy even helped me organize my house again, Todd fixed some toilets, and Stacy helped me clean my house... I mean, that's love!

The cousins!

Sisters...

It may have been earlier than I thought we would get our tree, but when you have free manual labor to help you get the thing upstairs and into the christmas tree stand, you decide Christmas should come early.

We celebrated Auntie Stacy's birthday...

The cousins were able to decorate the tree together...

But, getting a candy cane to eat (because it 'accidently' broke during the hanging process) was the highlight, I'm pretty sure...

BFF's

So, we've got a 3.5 year old and a 4 year old that can't wait to see each other, talk about each other a lot, and excitedly play with each other for a meer 5 minutes before this type of thing happened...  Oh, the teens are going to be fun.

A Puddle, Umbrella, and Hot Chocolate...

Great Wolf Lodge

Ann, Mike, Kaya, and Zane invited us to join them on their Great Wolf Lodge holiday this weekend, and we couldn't have been more willing participants.  I don't know who was more excited... me or Maeve.  We all just love being with each other.  I cannot say enough how lucky I am to have so many fantastic friends in my life... I have so many quality people.  What a fun weekend.....

A Conversation...

Maeve -- "Hey Mom, where'd the rain go?"

Me -- 'Its just having a little break for a few days so the sun can shine.  It will probably be back tomorrow.  Why do you ask?'

Maeve -- "I miss the rain.  I wish it would come back today."

I think she is a true Pacific Northwesterner....

A Bike Ride with a Reward...

Last month I bought a Weehoo while I was down in Portland, but hadn't had an opportunity to attach it to my bike yet due to a busy schedule and rainy skies.  So, this morning, despite the cold temperatures, we bundled up and took it for a test ride.  Major hit.  Maeve was a little hesitant at first, but seeing as we were en route to the doughnut shop and it was a downhill slope the whole way, it provided a super fun ride for the 3 year old.  Thumbs up all round... Weehoooooooo!

Eye Roll...

It happened.  I received my first eye roll from Maeve.  Her timing was right on cue too...  Apparently my 13 year niece, Taryn, is happy to take credit for this newfound skill.  Now Maeve thinks its hilarious to just start rolling her eyes, whenever.  I swear that she is growing up so fast.  The word choices and sentences she's spouting off these days blow me away.  She desperately wants to be involved in everything that is going on, and can't sit still to save her life.  And, she often just laughs when I try and correct her behavior about something because she thinks I'm just trying to be funny -- she can't fathom that anything she's doing could be wrong, I guess.  Oh Maeve... I do adore you even when you exasperate me :-)

Election Day...

We are wearing our blue today...
