Summer Swim Lessons Have Begun...

Why wouldn't they start?  It was only 55 degrees and raining today.  Come on summer!!    Anywho, off to Maudry we went and Maeve had a great time.  Kids have no sense of thermal awareness... which is helpful for such moments as these.  There were a couple of breaks from the rain, so I managed to run out and capture a few photos of swimming greatness...  sort of.  At least she's a gamer :-)

Obviously...

...this is hanging on our wall now.

Ben Towne Foundation Family Event...

This morning we participated in watching a private screen of "Brave" put on by the Ben Towne Foundation as their family event.  It was awesome and we look forward to filling our blue coin boxes to raise money for pediatric cancer research.  Before we left for the movie I told Maeve to go pick something nice to wear.  She replied, "fancy?  like Fancy Nancy?"

.... and, this is the outfit she choose and wore to the movie.

Such a fun movie!  Time will tell if Bear-mares are in our future though.  Thank goodness we didn't see it 3-D.  ha.

New Family Member...

So, there was a minor little hiccup on the return portion from Lincoln City.  Minor being, half an hour into our 5 hour drive home, my stupid car broke down.  Huge deep breath.  I've been hating on that car for awhile.  I had been perusing car listings and dreaming of a new vehicle.  Another huge deep breath.  My friends wait with me until the tow truck arrived and Maeve and I rode in style to Portland instead.  Thankfully my old roomie lives in Portland, so we ended up bookending our trip into and out of Lincoln City with her.  Long story, short... fortunately it didn't cost a fortune to fix the car and back home we went.  Within a couple of days my mom generously came down to watch Maeve while I focused on car business.  Goodbye Jetta.  Hello CR-V.  I couldn't be happier.  Its not new, but it seems brand new.  We now have a great camping car and can play in the mountains, come winter.  Initially Maeve wanted to call the car Rapunzel, and then Lightening McQueen - McQueen for short.  But, I think we've settled on Hank now.

Maeve getting some work done in the tow truck...

Finny!  Maeve owes  you some peppermint Life Savers...

Hank...

Watch out Gran... there's a pirate in the house!

Lincoln City!

Things have been a wee bit hectic around here for a few reasons, therefore I'm a bit behind on my postings.  The most fantastic trip we've taken recently was to Lincoln City with some generous new friends who invited us along... So, not to be rude, we said 'yes' :-)  It was such a fun trip because it is so much easier and entertaining to watch two little peas in a pod play play play all weekend long.  The girls got along really well and thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the beach and playing games at the house...  One of the highlights for Maeve was getting to fly her own kite.  And, I don't think she's ever run so much in her life... let's just say she's not naturally motivated to exercise (no judgment.. I totally understand), but when she's peer pressured into it a bit, its totally effective.  I could see her mind working when her friend would run all the way down the beach, and Maeve'd be going... 'Really?  Is it necessary to run that far??"  Ha Ha.

Here are some of the pictures I took.  Since the girls spent half the time naked, it cut down how many photos could actually be posted.

Thoroughly enjoyable weekend... making good friends and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

A Date with Kenzie...

So Lisa and I thought it would be fun for the girls to have a day together to celebrate both of them just turning 3.  They hadn't seen each other in a long time, so it was super fun to see how quickly they became BFF's...  Super duper cute...

First they bounced and slid...

Then there were requisite cupcakes...

'Smile and pose because you're both so cute...'

Then we went to the Children's Theatre and watched "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"...

The girls had a great time...

Still smiling...

And out for the count... for 3 hours.  Nice Maeve :-)

Out With Mike...

So, when Amy, Jenny, and I were running in mud a week and a bit ago, Mike took Zane and Maeve for an adventure downtown via bus.

This picture makes me laugh....

But not nearly as much as this one... ha ha.  I love that she's still standing there despite clearly being unhappy about the situation.  You never have to guess how Maeve is feeling... that's for darn sure.  Ha

A Girl Who Can Do & Be Anything...

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I do not embrace the Disney princess phase that a lot of young girls have an affinity for.  I do, however, embrace dress-up.  Accessorize and dress up all you want, Maeve... find your own style.  Maeve is starting to embellish her looks a bit more these days and has even gotten in my make up a couple of times... (we have since talked about that being a 'no no').

Anyway, here is Maeve at the spa getting her first pedicure.  Who took her?  Annie of course... Where was I?  Doing a Costco run.  Something is seriously wrong with this picture.  Ha Ha.  Maeve loved her date with Annie and has been showing everyone who asks, or doesn't ask, her beautiful toenails...

But, what I love is that Maeve is drawn to all sorts of play...  Her favorite toy she received for her birthday was this tool set.  She loves it... We had to set ground rules as to what she was allowed to hammer and unscrew... ha.  I am trying to raise a confident, independent, able, beautiful girl.  She can do and be anything she wants.... (and Maeve would prefer the color 'pink' being involved too)...

Handy girl with painted nails... Love it.

Park Fun

Sunday evening was quite nice... too nice to stay in, so we jotted down to the beach for a couple of hours...

Its too bad Maeve clearly doesn't like going to the beach...

And we ran into an old friend of ours... these two used to be in the same daycare.  They had a great time catching up...

And jumping off their hot dogs...

Just to document... the 'raspberry' is in its full glory right now.  Ohhh, its so funny to raspberry all the time.

And then Mason taught Maeve how to give raspberry kisses... awesome.  Thanks Mason :-)

Because I Can't Get Enough Of That Spunk...
