Summer Fun...

I don't know why I find this video so funny... maybe because I root for the youngest, being the baby of the family myself.  I remembering this type of taunting.  ha.  And, I love hearing my daughter belly laugh.

Maeve, the Comedian...

Maeve kills me sometimes, she's so funny.  My niece, Taryn, managed to capture this gem...

Friends and Sunshine...

On Saturday we headed to the 'ham to hang with some of our favorite people.  We caught the Ski to Sea parade and then wandered over to Mark and Misha's house for some hang time and good food and drink.  The kids are at such a fun age and are always thrilled to see each other and play.

Here we all are in prime position to ooh and ahh at the happenings  Can't remember the last time I watched a parade, but its pretty entertaining with kids...

...because they get up and dance and do funny things :-)

Making sure she looked 'cool'...

There are many things I covet about Mark and Misha's house and backyard.  I'm just thankful we're friends and I can come partake in the leisure activities offered here...

Maeve thoroughly enjoyed all the water activities this weekend.  Thank you sunshine for showing up...

Honestly...

We took the kids on a little trek to the beach..

Not quite sure why I changed Maeve into dry clothes for the beach adventure.  She was the first of many to become completely drenched during the explorations...

Silly kids...

Beach fun...

Grown up fun...

We spent two nights at Ann and Mike's place... always a fun and relaxing time.

Maeve couldn't belly laugh enough while being sprayed with the hose...

These two are so funny...

Birthday Montage...

Someone is officially 3... and couldn't be more proud about it.  We have embarked on birthday week, and there were a record number of cupcakes and treats inhaled over the past 5 days. We have had some very fun filled days recently, and a lot of celebrating too.  The way it should be, right?

This is Maeve going to bed on the eve of her birthday -- she's telling me that she will be "3" when she wakes up.  And, how adorable is she?  When I got her up in the morning I said, "Happy Birthday, Maeve" to which she responded to me, "Happy Mother's Day"...

Of course, when its your birthday you get to pick out a doughnut for breakfast.  So, here we are at 6:15am picking out the doughnut with pink frosting with sprinkles...

One happy birthday girl!

I took the last 4 hours off my shift so that I could join Maeve at her daycare and participate in her birthday celebration.  It was really cute... there was a handmade crown, I brought in pictures of her previous birthdays, hugs to all of her classmates, and popsicles handed out - which were the main highlight for all.  Then we headed over to the Wilson's who spoiled her rotten with gifts and cupcakes.  I believe Maeve licked the icing off of at least 4 Trophy cupcakes.... Did I mention there was a bit of sugar happening?

After the afternoon spoilage, we met Shill for dinner and celebrated them both for being a year older.  I was just waiting for a major meltdown due to all the excitement and sugar intake, but I was pleasantly surprised to have a perfectly intact 3 year old...

I gave a couple of gifts to Maeve the next morning... I figured spreading out the influx of gifts was better... I did well.  She LOVES this new toy.

Oh hey... did you know it is birthday week?

Off to soccer.  Yes, she kept the hat on for the entire practice.  ha ha.

And then we went out for lunch followed by frozen yogurt, to once again, celebrate a little someone.  This picture was taken immediately before those two got completely drenched by the little fountains we were parked right in front of...

Then we headed north for the weekend so that we could have a family celebration...

It was lovely and very low key...

Who doesn't love a BBQ?

Someone was spoiled once again, but I really do believe that this chapstick that Gran gave her was her most favorite gift of all...  those lips have been very lubed ever since.

And, another cupcake to eat the icing off of...

On Sunday we ventured into the city to visit Grandma and Grandpa.  We had a really nice walk through Stanley Park and out for dinner...

Oh, what do we have here?

Grandpa and Maeve talking about cupcakes...

And, this was today.  Still wearing the birthday hat... It was a pretty good gig, maybe  more goodness will keep coming if I continue to wear the birthday hat?!

And, it is to be continued... her birthday party with her friends is this weekend.  Wowza.  Its good to be Maeve :-)

Big Kid Bed...

Well... the time had come to say goodbye to the crib-turned-toddler-bed and say hello to the new loft bed.  I was a bit nostalgic to bid the crib farewell, but I do love this stage of life Maeve is in and how independent she is becoming (well, most of the time, that is... ha).  Maeve is loving her new bed.  Huge 'thanks' to Brian for helping me assemble the thing without instructions and 'thanks' to Rosanne for volunteering Brian to me.  ha ha.  At some point I will paint the bed to match the room... and redecorate the room to accommodate the new bed.

A Family Photo...

Getting a Family Photo...

An unwilling participant...

The unwilling participant leaves me high and dry...

Cue 'fake cry'...

Its hilarious to see Mommy cry... now this is a fun game.

Coming in for a hug to make Mommy feel better...

Attempting to be an escape artist... again.

...but I know where her tickle spots are.

And, finally 'Family Photo' accomplished :-)

*Click*

Someone is enamored with her camera at the moment.  I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to capture her face this weekend as she was too busy taking her own photos :-)

No-oooooooo!

The 'no sand on the head' rule was blatantly ignored

Whidbey Island = Ahhhhh....

So, the Wilson's so generously let us steal away to their cabin on Whidbey for the weekend and it was as relaxing as it always is.  We were treated with some really nice weather too.  It was a great mix of Maeve and me time, along with friend time.

Leann joined us for the night on Friday and we were treated with a beautiful morning.

James, Sarah, and Lila drove down to join us for brunch.  You can't beat outside dining...

And then we were joined by CJ, Pax and Beckett for the remainder of the weekend.  First order of business -- a hike down to the beach.

We love CJ...

Running in and out of the water = a great time...

Kids will be kids... well, Maeve will be Maeve, for sure...

Pax, CJ, and Beckett...

And, then they found the muddy mud....

A little Lightening McQueen before bedtime...

Kindred thumb sucking spirits...

A great, relaxing, fun, weekend.  Maeve and I read plenty of books, had a dance party, snuggled plenty, and told many stories to each other.  The only hiccup was the fact that I shared the King sized bed with Maeve and I still had no room on the bed.  I often feel like Maeve is trying to physically get inside my body when we happen to be sharing a bed together...  Did I mention that she loves to snuggle?
