Halloween 2012

What a difference a year makes...  this Halloween was so much fun.  It wasn't at all bad last year, but the concept wasn't totally making sense and the big kids wearing masks etc... were a bit too scary, and therefore I ended up carrying Maeve from house to house, it seemed.

The whole day was a highlight to Maeve as it was "pajama day" at daycare today.  Well, I was almost thinking that it would be a bigger hit than trick-or-treating.  Kids are so funny.

I worked a shorter day today so that we could participate in Halloween festivities properly.  We headed over to Amy and Brent's house because they live in the ideal trick-or-treating neighborhood.  It is a bit of a tradition now that they host the rest of us that want to come to their neighborhood.  Maeve was chomping at the bit to get out there and trick-or-treat.  It was so fun... literally running from house to house.  I haven't seen her exert so much energy.... ever.  She was so excited.  And, when we did come back to Amy and Brent's house, she was a self-proclaimed candy giver-outer.  Most of the kids benefitted as a result.

I decided that a one night free-for-all was the way to go about it.  Maeve was in heaven eating candy after candy.  She was a bit manic by the end of the evening... but, its done now.  Whatever she didn't finish, we just left behind and as far as she knows, this is how Halloween rolls.

Oh, by the way.  If you're wondering if you've seen Maeve's costume before.  You have.  Exactly everything as before.  I'm not sure if Maeve thinks that her Halloween costume has forever been determined for her because when I asked her a couple of months ago what she'd like to be, she said 'a bear'.  Duh, mom.  I felt no need to change her mind if a bear is what she wanted to be again.  Easy.  Done.  And, she never even wavered as Halloween approached.

Happy Halloween everyone... and happy Birthday to Avery and Sofie too!

In costume and ready to get going....

Clara, the cow... Maeve's first Halloween costume.

Liam was even here to celebrate...

Ready... set... go!

The whole trick-or-treating gang...

By the end of their trick-or-treating, they had even opened the door to one of the houses...  A little eager...

Taking inventory... One happy bear!
