S'up?

Fountain Fun...

We decided to check out the new park that opened yesterday... and because I was pretty sure this would be it for summer, it seemed like a pretty great excuse to strip down (Maeve that is..) and play in the water. Maeve was pretty thrilled about this impromptu saturation...

So brave..

Yes... she was duly warned.

Where's Waldo? er, Maeve?

Beautiful day on Lake Union...

Today we had a twist on "Pancake Friday"... and thanks to Carrie and her recent post, we had pumpkin waffles instead. (I sent Amber the recipe because, well, I don't really cook. Thanks Amber!) Oh my... it was a little taste of heaven -- especially when we pulled out all guns and added whipped cream for a finishing touch. These waffles were definitely cousins of pumpkin pie, which could not have made me happier. Yum Yum Yum.

Maeve and Avery, the kitchen help:

Sadly Amy and Bennett could not join us... so, we ate their portions for them. I'm not sure Jillian would approve of myself stuffing myself silly and then "shredding"... I'm not sure that I approve either. ugh. Next week I'm working out before I pig out. I'm sure Jillian would approve of that... right?

Status update... I'm 8 days strong into the 30 day shred.

Fashion Diva...

Gran and Elin are in town... and Gran brought gifts back from her recent trip to Europe... Maeve is now accessorized.

What a Creative Mind Looks Like...

Growing up...

Big things are happening in our household. Someone continues to grow up... Today, Maeve stood by herself a few times (not for very long... but, the point people, is that she's finally doing things that will eventually get her walking!) Yay... lots and lots of encouragement and kisses followed these stands.

Secondly, Maeve is starting to, not only attempt, but sometimes succeed in using her fork. Of course there were lots of praises following that as well, which made future successful stabs counterproductive... because she would preemptively cheer and clap, and then the food would go flying. Oh well... what are you going to do?

And these, are the latest happenings of the day...

Maeve walks with her wagon too... don't think I bragged about that earlier :-)

Zoo Time...

Lynn accompanied Maeve and I to the zoo this afternoon. Each time we go, it gets a little more exciting for Maeve. I think the sloth bear was the big hit today. We found ourselves in Zoomazium at the end of our visit -- and now I know where we'll be heading on rainy days in the future. Super fun...

Lynn and Maeve looking for the orangutans

We took in a puppet show and scored a backstage pass too. Maeve got to meet the star puppet... and of course, she gave him a kiss.

Lynn and Maeve having a race...

Seeing if she can take on the baby elephant...

And there were even puzzle pieces to eat, I mean, put together...

Breathtaking...

Let the "oooh's and aaah's" begin...

Maeve's first piece of art. Can you even stand it? I mean, I knew the girl was talented, but seriously... this is a masterpiece ;-)

Katie & Joe...

...got hitched today! Whaoo Hooo... Yay them! I'm so happy for them. I'm also so happy for them that the weather behaved, sort of. The weather has been schizophrenic recently and it managed to be 'mostly nice' this afternoon... But, as Katie has said... it doesn't matter because at the end of the day they will still be married. And, they are. It was a beautiful ceremony and a great reception. Its always good to come together for a fantastic reason with great friends. I made a decision late in the week to make alternative plans for Maeve -- since it was an outdoor (under the tent) wedding and rain in the horizon... taking a toddler who is yet to walk on her own sounded not so appealing. She had a much better day with the Wilson's and I had a much better time not holding a squirmy girl all afternoon. Win win.

Off to the farm for the wedding...

Some of the gang...

Katie was so beautiful!

Fun times... Congratulations Katie and Joe!

A Week in Review...

We've had a fun and busy week...

Nanny Annie and Maeve have a weekly date now -- Gymboree class.

Maeve loves Gymboree... I'm going to try and be a third wheel for one of the classes... if I'm allowed :-)

And, then there was dinner out with Katie...

There was also a playdate with Ryan (while I had a "playdate" with Jeff and Carin)

Maeve helped me with our household chores...

And, off to the Mariner's game on Saturday night...

Dan had to work, but the rest of us took in the game. Maeve loves baseball... and all the food that is required eating when watching a game...

Oh, and in case you're wondering how the shred is coming along... Jillian is kicking my butt! But, I'm three days strong...

So, interesting... apparently I'm supposed to be tapering for the Leavenworth half marathon now. Can you taper if you've never really trained? I'm investing in ibuprofen instead, I've decided.

Second thing -- I'm annoyed that I can't fit into my jeans. I have no will power and therefore no real ability to diet. I am hoping Jillian will help get me out of my slump and into my jeans again. The 30 day shred has begun - today. I can't lift my arms now. I hope Maeve is okay with crawling for the next month... perhaps that will entice her to start walking?!

Here is a shot of our "Friday Pancakes" this morning. Avery was trying to avoid being in the photo but still wanted to eat her pancakes. Pancakes pre work out... I'm sure that's recommended.
