8th Annual Niece Camping Trip...

Well... another year has passed, and therefore, another niece camping trip took place (see previous post). This year we had to be a bit creative because of this little one here:

So, what did we do? We headed over to Whidbey Island and borrowed my generous friends' cabin, which sits on a great property with lots of land and overlooking the water. We joined forces with Leann and her niece, Molly, and off we went for our pseudo camping trip. The tent was pitched, the dinners were cooked by campfire, there were s'mores every night, there were scavenger hunts, and multiple games played. The TV remained off, despite multiple requests by the tweens... because we were camping! I was kicked out of the tent (so so sad... ha) and instead I slept inside on a very comfy king sized bed beside Maeve's pack 'n play... and a fun time was had by all. Here was a glimpse, and then some, of what we were up to...

Maeve supervising the tent set-up...

Kate checking out her new digs...

Molly, Taryn, and Kate... aka, "The Tweens" caught scheming...

Happy 9th Birthday Kate!!

S'mores galore...

We treated ourselves to breakfast inside...

The beautiful view from the deck...

And, down to the beach we treked...

Maeve dipping her toes in the Pacific Ocean for the first time...

#1 rule at the beach -- do not let sand get in Maeve's hair! Well, that turned into 4 headplants. Oh well, all you can do is try...

Maeve was a fan of the beach...

Maeve mastered climbing the stairs...

And, off to the drive-in. The girls all cozy in the back of Leann's car...

We watched Toy Story 3...

I told Maeve we were going on a roadtrip and prepped her with a bottle and put her in her jammies. She woke up just as the movie started, but I pretended I was driving... did a few shoulder checks, shifted a gear... and back to night night she went. What a good baby! Ha.

My seat...

A near miss and sad girls... the ball landed in the bushes over the deck rails. A rescue in action...

And, Kate, true to form... grabbed the Goldfish and planted herself down to watch saying "This is going to be entertaining..."

There was slippin' and sliding'.. .

And a visit to Fort Casey...

Kate, Me, Maeve, and Taryn...

Molly, Zoe, and Leann...

Maeve and I checking out the sights...

Beautiful day...

Love the Puget Sound...

"Oh hey, Mom... did you know there are deer everywhere?"

Maeve exploring the cabin...

Molly and Taryn modeling for us...

Yet another fierce model pose...

Yeah, so it rained on the last morning... but, I had to get our annual photo. So, we drug the tent under cover and took photos anyway!

The whole gang...
