Good Mayhem....

On Saturday, I ventured north to connect with my Bellingham peeps. We go way back.... Almost all of us, spouses included, worked together at Camp Firwood as counselors or department heads for multiple summers. And then during the rest of the year, we lived some form of "Friends" existence -- we were always at each other's houses, doing everything together, almost every single night. I still don't know how we could like each other so much... ha. Eventually, our sitcom years came to an end.... and we are now scattered north to Vancouver and south to Seattle and Portland. It is wild now to come together because there are so many kids amongst the group. How our lives have changed -- well, maybe mine not quite yet, but theirs certainly! I sat back watching the kids run around, tackle each other, and play, knowing that in about a year there should be my own child to add to the mayhem. It made me smile.

And the number is.....

My homestudy and my Dossier were received by my caseworker today and all looked good. I am finally official. Whaooo Hooo.....

Mailed... Finally.

I can finally say that my Dossier documentation has officially been mailed... and is out of my hands. I won't take a deep breath yet until my caseworker reviews everything... but provided it all looks good, I should get a number on that greatly anticipated waiting list by next week. Can you even believe it?! We'll see... ha.

No caption Necessary...

I couldn't help myself... itty bitty Bennett is already trying to hit the bottle. His parents may have some hard times during his teenage years! ha.

Methow Valley...

Destination weddings. So fun. Kyle and Ann decided to invite their friends and family to the Methow Valley this past weekend to celebrate their marriage. As a result, we were all able to partake in a little winter fun and tromp around in the snow and take in the gorgeous scenery. I promptly invited myself to be Jeff and Kathleen's third wheel and we shared a super cute cabin by the river, which had its own hot tub on the deck. Total bonus. Elizabeth was a super good traveler and I think liked being on holidays. Congratulations Kyle and Ann...

Oh my gosh... Bennett is super duper cute. I got to meet and hold the new lil' guy yesterday and he's so sweet. I forgot my camera so I stole these photo's from Karen. Amy's a rockstar for sure....

Finally.... oh wait.

I'm an idiot. That's all there is to it. Hit my head against the wall now. It's not the end of the world, but I've been sitting here patiently waiting for my Social Worker to complete my Home Study report... and she finally sent me a copy of the first draft today. Yay. Finally. Oh, but wait. I just realized yesterday that the letters of reference, that I requested a couple of my friends to write, need to be notarized. Are you kidding me?! Its my fault. I didn't look closely enough to the instructions I suppose, but there it is. So, now my good friends will quickly rewrite them, notarize them, and send them back to me... thanks guys. I suck.

I have been thinking about the somewhat randomness of referals lately and how, just by sheer timing of things, you get "assigned", if you will, one particular baby over another. Perhaps this slight hiccup means that I will get a different child... perhaps I want the different child! (I don't want an unruly child - ha.. no really...) Anyway, I suppose the randomness is true with biological children too, depending on what particular sperm wins the egg. Oh well. It is what it is... Nothing is certain.
